"Two Schools, one Vision"

Abraham Darby Academy opened as a totally new academy in September 2008. It is an independent state academy; a company limited by guarantee and linked to Adams' Grammar School, Newport in a loose Federation. The sponsors of the Academy are the Haberdashers' Livery Company and Telford and Wrekin LA.

Our vision is one where all students are inspired to reach their full potential, no matter what their ability or background; where aspirations and achievements are constantly raised; where the improvements of standards reflect the needs of the local and wider communities; through the highest quality academic, personal and vocational teaching and guidance. We will build on the strengths and experiences of Abraham Darby Academy and Adams' Grammar School, so that our students become independent learners, fully equipped for the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of adult life in the 21st century and well prepared to be the leaders, professionals and parents of tomorrow.

Abraham Darby has specialisms in Performing Arts and Business & Enterprise. Adams' has specialisms in Technology and Modern Languages. A Training School will span the two. The Training School will form the heart of the links between the two - the cement to all the other initiatives taking place. It will be the catalyst to ensure the Federation and the new Academy is at the cutting edge of national educational initiatives, committed to research and development and to adopting creative solutions that will benefit all Haberdashers' Adams' students.

The Federation brings the two together in a new and ambitious way. We are establishing a similar structure in both to ensure a joint vision, atmosphere and ethos United by a common governance and Chief Executive, they will still be separate schools with a Principal and Senior Management Team. The Chief Executive (and Chief Finance Officer) have a strategic role over the two - Education, Finance, Staffing, liaison/daughter with Governors, External Relations. (The CEO will give assemblies, observe lesson/daughters and mentors students so that he can keep his hands on the pulse in both schools) The Heads of each are in charge of the running of the schools and raising standards. The Heads and their deputies will feed into and be responsible to the relevant Governor Committees. Links between the schools are developing at every level and in every area of academy life. There are excellent opportunities for sharing resources, learning from each other and student and teacher exchange.
