Extra Curricular Science

The Science department runs the following curriculum enrichment activities:

  • Science Club
  • Homework Club
  • Help and support sessions
  • OCN Fishing

These clubs allow us to support the Students in many ways. Some clubs activities involve taking part in activities which can enhance the image, self-confidence and reputation of individuals and of the School. The opportunities offered allow us to reinforce, extend and enhance the curriculum beyond that offered in timetabled sessions:

  • Opportunities to pursue/reinforce work encountered within the normal timetable. Students can pursue work/targets over long periods of time not usually possible within a normal scheme of work;
  • Opportunities to undertake work not normally encountered within the routine timetable. This may provide the Student, and indeed the teacher, with the opportunity to pursue a personal interest or hobbies.
  • Opportunities to go on  visits to venues of specific interest, e.g. Enginuity, Think Tank, Polymer industry day.
  • Opportunities to go on trips and fieldworks study weeks
  • Opportunities to develop a project and to enter competitions; science study support offers Students the chance to seek extra help and guidance.
