Aims and objectives

To fulfil the statutory requirements for education that are laid down; and in so doing to provide where appropriate, a curriculum which goes beyond these requirements in order to meet the needs of our students.

The pursuit of excellence in a caring, disciplined environment, i.e. one where high standards in all one does are expected and aspired to by all.

The identification and development of the talents of each individual student to their fullest.

The preparation of young men and young women to play a useful, productive and leading role in society:-

  1. To develop students who are critical but constructive, co-operative but responsible, tolerant yet principled, analytical but positive, reflective but responsive, considerate and humorous, dynamic yet well mannered, dedicated yet versatile, able and willing to take the lead yet good team members, articulate yet good listeners.
  2. To develop students with direction and purpose by providing a co-ordinated careers and higher education programme at the relevant stages
  3. To develop technological, scientific and industrial awareness and understanding.
  4. To develop communication skills, written and oral, in English and a foreign language.
  5. To stimulate a culture which is not totally trivial, or commercially exploited.
  6. To infiltrate strong spiritual, moral, social and cultural values in all one does
  7. To address questions of human relationships, and to encourage tolerance and understanding of others.

FURTHER AIMS

The appointment of high quality staff, the management of their personal development and team building to best meet the aims of the academy.

The management of the buildings and the grounds to provide the best possible facilities and environment to meet the overall aims of the academy.

Through efficient cashflow management, gaining finance and resources from outside agencies and generating income from other sources, to manage the academy's finances to best meet the overall aims.

To fulfil the statutory requirements laid down on health and safety, and to provide all activities with the minimum risk to all involved.
